WHO CAN apply?
If you love the state of Florida, have a desire to help the state prepare for, respond to or recover from a disaster, we encourage you to apply.
Serving in the Florida State Guard requires:
U.S. citizenship and status as a Florida resident.
One weekend per month training requirements.
Two, one week training periods per year.
what are the requirements?
Floridians interested in joining the force must pass a drug test and background check. They must also be between the ages of 18 and 60 and U.S. Citizens. A high school diploma is required and you must be free from any branch of military service in any capacity. Applicants must also meet minimum physical fitness requirements.


are Florida state guard soldiers volunteers?
While activated or in training, members of the Florida State Guard are considered volunteers for the state, as defined in s. 440.02(15)(d)6. Members of the Florida State Guard will be compensated for time spent training or in the course of active service.
